Automatic capture
How do I set up automatic drive capture?
- Open DriveMileGo and add your businesses and vehicle in Garage.
- Choose a Plus plan when subscriptions become available. Apple confirms the price and any eligible trial before you subscribe.
- On Overview, choose Enable automatic tracking, or turn on Automatic drive capture in Garage.
- Follow the location prompts. In iPhone Settings, find DriveMileGo’s Location permissions, choose Always, and turn on Precise Location. Keep iPhone Location Services enabled.
- If asked, allow Motion & Fitness so the app can use automotive activity to assist detection. Return to DriveMileGo and check its capture status.
Buying Plus does not enable recording by itself. Capture is opt-in, and you can pause it in Garage. Once ready, automatic capture does not require you to press Start for each drive.
Why was a drive missed or a route incomplete?
Check that Plus access is active, automatic capture is on, and Location is set to Always with Precise Location enabled. Read the capture message on Overview or in Garage for permission or storage issues.
GPS can be unavailable or inaccurate, and iOS can interrupt background work. Background GPS also uses battery. If you force-close the app, reopen it before relying on capture again. Review your mileage regularly and manually add or correct missed drives.
Garage → Journal checkup highlights recorded routes with long gaps. A gap may be a stop or a GPS interruption; the check does not invent missing miles. Odometer comparisons can help you investigate differences.
How do I pause tracking or finish a manual recording?
Turn off Automatic drive capture in Garage to pause automatic capture. If you started a manual GPS recording, use Finish manual drive on Overview when you park to save it. Manual recordings do not finish automatically.
You can also change permissions in iPhone Settings. Hand-entered mileage records do not need location permission.
Your mileage journal
What can I use without Plus?
Manual drive entry, manually started GPS recordings, businesses, vehicles, purpose presets, saved records, journal checks, odometer comparisons, reports, and backups remain available without a subscription. Plus adds automatic drive detection.
In Drives, tap the plus button to add a past trip. For a live manual recording, open Manual controls · optional on Overview and choose Start a manual recording. Finish it yourself after parking.
How do I separate my businesses and personal drives?
Add each business in Garage → Businesses. Open a drive to classify it as Business or Personal. A business drive needs its business assignment; add a purpose so you can remember why the trip happened. You can select multiple drives to classify them together.
Purpose presets fill a draft with a reusable business, purpose, and optional vehicle. Route and work-hour suggestions still require review. Pending drives remain separate from reviewed totals.
Can I correct a drive or divide a mixed-purpose journey?
Open the drive and choose Edit to update its details. For a recorded route, Split this drive lets you choose a recorded point and classify each part separately. Both parts return to review. Split parking and tolls are kept with the first part so you can adjust them if needed.
Selected drives can be merged when their times and business, classification, and vehicle assignments are compatible. Review the resulting drive. Keep your own records when correcting mileage.
Does the app determine tax eligibility?
No. It organizes the mileage and purposes you record. Estimates use the mileage rate you set in Garage. Review your records and apply the rules relevant to you; an app classification, purpose, or estimate does not establish whether a trip qualifies.
Plus, trials, and billing
What will Plus cost?
Planned launch pricing is US$39 per year or US$5.99 per month, recurring. Both plans include the same automatic capture features for all your businesses in the app.
A 7-day free trial is planned for eligible customers. Apple confirms current pricing, currency, and introductory-offer eligibility before purchase. You can redeem one introductory offer per subscription group. There is no checkout on this website.
After an eligible trial, the selected plan renews at its recurring price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple processes payment and renewal.
How do I cancel or change my plan?
In the app, open Garage → Plans & subscription → Manage Subscription. You can also open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose DriveMileGo Plus, and manage it there. See Apple’s subscription cancellation guide.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. When Plus access ends, automatic capture stops. Saved drives, manual entry, and exports remain available, and cancellation does not delete your journal.
I paid, but Plus is not showing as active.
Check your internet connection and that the App Store is using the Apple Account used for the purchase. Open Garage → Plans & subscription → Restore Purchases. Apple may ask you to sign in.
If access still cannot be verified, email us with the exact message shown. Please do not send your Apple Account password or payment-card details. Restoring a purchase restores access, not a mileage backup.
Reports and backups
How do I export a report?
Open Reports, choose the dates and business, then export CSV or PDF. Use the iPhone share sheet to choose where the file goes. Reviewed business mileage and pending review items are distinguished so you can check the report before sharing it.
A report is for reading or analysis. Use a full backup if you want a file you can restore into DriveMileGo.
How do I back up or restore my journal?
In Garage → Backups, choose Export a full backup and save the JSON file somewhere you trust. It includes drives, recorded routes, businesses, vehicles, settings, presets, and saved odometer readings.
Before restoring, turn off automatic capture, finish any active recording, and save any recovered drives. Choose Restore a backup in Garage and select a DriveMileGo backup file. Restore replaces the device’s current journal. The app saves a copy of your current data first and provides Share backup from before restore afterward. Automatic capture stays off until you enable it again.
A backup contains personal location data. Keep it private and check that it was saved successfully.
What happens if I delete the app or change phones?
The journal is stored locally. Export a full backup before deleting the app or moving to another phone, then restore it in the new installation. Your iPhone’s own backup settings may also include app data, but DriveMileGo has no account-based cloud sync.
We cannot retrieve your drives from a developer server. Restoring your Apple purchase is separate from restoring your mileage data.
